Where's Mick Bates.

For years, the people of Montgomeryshire have become used to seeing their MP and AM almost joined at the hip. Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Ant and Dec. Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy. But no more . It looks as if Mick Bates has gone the way of Sam Mendes - not so much airbrushed as swept under the carpet with a giant broom. The Lib Dems in Montgomeryshire seem to have no further use for him. They have have moved him out, a bit like deposed communist dictators used to be moved out. On the scrapheap. Mick has been moved out, and my lamb buyer, Mr Wyn Williams has been moved in.

This week, Lib Dem leaflets about the NHS have been dropping through the letterboxes of Montgomeryshire. It's a 4 page job (English only) - entitled 'Lembit Opik and Wyn Williams NHS Inquiry'. There's a delightful photograph of the newly introduced couple, with a beaming Wyn. Only problem with all this is that health is devolved to the National Assembly for Wales, and Mick Bates is the Assembly Member - and he's still being paid over £50,000 to do the job.

As usual, there's this graph on the back page which informs us 'Only the Lib Dems can beat the Tories here'. I rather like this graphic. We're going to start using our own version - 'Only Glyn Davies can beat Lembit Opik here!' But at the moment, we're all very concerned about the whereabouts of Mick Bates. Where are you Mick?

If he has any sense he will be trying to read todays Welsh Audit Office report and work out how his Lib-Dem/Labour alliance is going to get Wales out of the hole they have firmly put us in....

These Lib Dem pamphlets etc make me want to tear my hair out. They are so cynical and contrived and should not be allowed.
Maybe Mick has seen the light and is too embarrassed to be seen with Idiot Opik?

Glyn, would you know if there's any way to stop these dreadfulLib Dem publications landing on our door mats? Is it possible to complain about them?? I really object to this sort of trash coming my way

I'm not sure who is the most embarrased by whom - Brawler Bates or Grope-it Opik.

Nah, these guys are unembarrassable. Grope-it writes for a porno rag called the Daily Sport for goodness sake.....Seems to me that the Libs in Mont know not the meaning of the word

In terms of campaigning that's what happens, Mick isn't standing again.

What's the problem?

Don't worry about it Glyn.
You and Hededd are the only ones that matter in the county. ;-)

Anon, the problem is that Montgomeryshire, due to Grope-it Opik's antics, is now a marginal seat and Basher Bates under normal circumstances would be out helping hime. The rumour locally is that even Bates has given up on car crash Opik. This makes GD's post intersting, to say the least.....
Bear in mind that Kirsty did not want LO to stand in this seat. Everyone is distancing themselves from Grope-it and that is hardly surprising

May be he is keeping a low profile after his incident at the hospital in Cardiff.
I always thought Mick was a good Am and a nice guy

A simple question for less than simple times:

Is Mick Bates on the DNA Database?

Anonymous said...

On the DNA database?!?! I hope not, they might try and clone him! It'll be like Jurassic Park!

I can assure you that Mick is attending to his duties in the Assembly and working for his constituents as usual. Nothing has changed, Glyn.

I too dislike anything that comes through my door with the banana man's face on it - and some of the questions on the so called questionairre were not relevant to the NHS.

Went straight into the recycling bin.

I did pause to wonder why Wyn Williams was on it and not Mick, after all Wyn will not be an AM (if at all - after the appalling behaviour of both MP and AM - Lib/Dems are hardly the flavour of the month)until next May, maybe after the debacle with the paramedic, he's doing the right thing and resigning.

Yes, life does repeat itself and both Lembit and Mick have plenty of reasons to bow their heads in shame. Let's just hope the naive folk of Mont don't repeat the mistake they made last time round in the General Election

Mont OG Mery - Mick Bates working as usual in Cardiff? Better duck!

Menzies and others are in hot soup for accepting money over the interests of the public. So much for "we are better than you" nonsense from the Lib-Dems.
