A Lib Dem Apology?

My favorite celebrity cleaning lady/snout, Edna Mopbucket has been on the phone, looking for info. She wants details of a public apology that the Liberal Democrats in Montgomeryshire are making to their fellow councillors for distributing misleading leaflets around the old County. Told Edna that I've heard nothing about it. Actually, I had heard, but didn't want to embarrass Cllr. Richard White, a straight sort of bloke, who doesn't deserve to have his reputation sullied by association with such disreputable behaviour.

Not often I hear Edna in 'outraged' mode, but she'd been tamping about the leaflets the Lib Dems had been putting out. Her language was enough to make Boris Johnson and Lord Mandelson sound like angels of sweetness. "How dare the ******* make such ******* claims for things they didn't ******* well do." I tried telling her that this is what we expect, but that just made her madder. To calm her down, I told her about last weeks invasion of the offices of the Shropshire Star, County Times, and Lib Dems themselves by Montgomeryshire Independent Councillors in full war cry, demanding apologies. Edna tells me that they then took the issue to Powys Council's Monitoring Officer. She was going to fire up Independent Cllr., Bob Mills into a rage, and was also looking forward to a right dust-up at the next Council meeting - changed her work rota to be there and see the blood letting. Edna reckoned they hadn't got a leg to stand on, and would be routed. And now she fears they've spoilt it all by issuing a public apology. Edna wants to see it - even if she claims to be quite soft hearted, and not interested in seeing them grovel.

So I promised Edna I'd post on it tonight, in the hope that one of this blog's visitors could shed some light. Comment if you know anything more. Be a pity not to share the details with the wider public.

Maybe they could ask Lembit to give the independent and tory councillors a rendition of his new single as compensation?

Apology in County Times today (Friday). Also we are informed that our esteemed MP is going to sing and play harmonica with Ant in the Ant and Dec show.

God save us from this idiot - will he never learn that this sort of publicity, far from endearing him to the electorate, does quite the opposite.

Frankie - I've heard about the public apology. Laughed like a drain. Montogeryshire Independents are still tamping though.

Couldn't agrtee with Frankie more. Lembit just ends up looking like a desperate idiot, a wannabee celeb. If that's the way he wants to go, why doesn't he give up any pretence of being an MP? He should be a role model, and just look at the way he's devaluing the job. How much time does it take for him to record/rehearse these shows he's so addicted to appearing on. In London I assume? Would he not serve his constituents better by actually being in his constituency? This Saturday we have looking like a total plonker on the Ant and Dec Show ( no change there ), whilst last Saturday night he was photographed much the worse for wear at 3am in a London nightclub. His religious conversion was, it seems, short-lived. What does it take for this saddo to get it! Hopefully, being voted out by the elctorate.....

Anon - We all have our own approach to the job. I suppose he thinks he is connecting with people who traditionally don't vote. Anyway, I don't think I'd want to go down the celebrity road.

Just come across your website, and as any blog involving Politics makes for interesting reading, and the odd chuckle on the side as i read grown men re-living their childhood days to see who can belittle who in the war against politics.
I am sure Powys Local Newspaper will have fun when it launches in just over a weeks time, maybe i should take the time to invite you and some other members to a Question Time in the Angel one saturday afternoon, and we can go out live on Powys Local TV, just a thought, one way to interact with the community, whether they get the answer they are looking for is a different story. Any way all the best, i look forward to possibly giving you a regular media platform over the coming weeks.

Powys Local - I'm open to offers - not financial.
